"IF WE DON'T GET RID OF THEM, WE WON'T HAVE A COUNTRY."
the universal and timeless refrain of the fool
Xenophobia is not confusing. We know why it is in the human brain. It’s in every human brain. Latent in some, outward-facing in others. It’s a thought that we have. The question is – do you combat that thought with logic? Do you talk yourself down about it? Or do you engage the thought and assume it to be true, and then base your life and/or worldview around it?
Xenophobia about Latin America is at most as old as Latin America.
But it’s the same old xenophobia.
That Danes have felt about Swedes. And Swedes have felt about Danes. And Japanese have felt about Chinese. And Chinese have felt about Japanese. And Lebanese have felt about Israelis. And Israelis have felt about Lebanese. And on. And on. And on. And on. And on…repeated times infinity.
And alllllllllll those places… ARE STILL PLACES.
I can understand and listen and hear a person who is frustrated by immigration in large numbers. I want to help them understand that people coming here to do low-wage work is really good and necessary for a developed country, with a developed economy, and a developed-country birthrate (declining). I want to get through to them that UNTIL WE PERFECT CLONING, IMMIGRATION IS THE ONLY WAY TO BALANCE OUT THE DECLINING BIRTHRATE OF A DEVELOPED ECONOMY. AND IMMIGRANTS ARE PEOPLE, SO THEY WILL ALSO HAVE BABIES.
I can also understand a person who is hateful about Latin American (and African, and Eastern European, and Southeast Asian, and Middle Eastern ) people. But I won’t tolerate it anymore. It’s unacceptable. And stupid.
“HOW DARE YOU COME HERE! GET AWAY YOU FILTH!”
That is every bit as absurd as burning your neighbor’s house down, and then punching him in the nose when he rings your doorbell and asks you to sit by your fireplace for a bit.

The United States has spent the last century going around and sticking its nose, and its guns, in everybody else’s business. For its own interests. And it’s been wrong to do so. And it didn’t work out well.
Every. Damn. Time.
The Monroe Doctrine must be obliterated.
Once it’s been obliterated for a generation, we will see that going around and fiddling with everybody isn’t a good way to play with others.
So we go around blowing millions of people’s homes and lives up. Then they have nowhere to live. So they try to come here.
And what I say to you now, MAGA, is: you had better start praying you are never in need of refuge.
Let’s say the RADICAL LEFTIST LEFT takes over, MAGA.
Are you going to need asylum in Argentina?
What if you make it there, sweating and smelly and tired and poor and hungry and ready to die, and they tell you to f*** right off?
Because that’s what they’ll be in their right to do. According to what you’ve all been saying and living.
My words fail here, so I will borrow Shakespeare’s.
Shakespeare wrote a play called Sir Thomas More. It’s about (you guessed it) Sir Thomas More.
See England had a bunch of immigrants and people were fed up about it. Like the way Trump is now. Totally fed up and just ready to hit fast forward on the immigration and get it over with and end it. And England started to have riots and mobs.
So the Crown sent in a lawyer, Thomas More, to talk to the mobs, to attempt to reason with them.
Someone in the mob shrieks: “THEY SHOULD BE REMOVED!”
Sir Thomas More:
Grant them removed, and grant that this your noise
Hath chid down all the majesty of England;
Imagine that you see the wretched strangers,
Their babies at their backs and their poor luggage,
Plodding to the ports and coasts for transportation,
And that you sit as kings in your desires,
Authority quite silent by your brawl,
And you in ruff of your opinions clothed;
What had you got? I’ll tell you: you had taught
How insolence and strong hand should prevail,
How order should be quelled; and by this pattern
Not one of you should live an agèd man,
For other ruffians, as their fancies wrought,
With self same hand, self reasons, and self right,
Would shark on you, and men like ravenous fishes
Would feed on one another.
[…]
Say now the king,
As he is clement if th’offender mourn,
Should so much come too short of your great trespass
As but to banish you, whither would you go?
What country, by the nature of your error,
Should give you harbor? Go you to France or Flanders,
To any German province, to Spain or Portugal,
Nay, anywhere that not adheres to England,
Why, you must needs be strangers: would you be pleased
To find a nation of such barbarous temper,
That, breaking out in hideous violence,
Would not afford you an abode on earth,
Whet their detested knives against your throats,
Spurn you like dogs, and like as if that God
Owed not nor made not you, nor that the elements
Were not all appropriate to your comforts,
But chartered unto them, what would you think
To be thus used? This is the strangers’ case;
And this your mountainish inhumanity.
