Why Lincoln is Crying
he'd be the best at any time
During Lincoln's time, do you really think people didn't say all the same stuff we hear now?
"That's outrageous."
"You're an idiot."
"You want to ruin my life."
"They aren't as good as us."
"They don't deserve it like I do."
"They are hurting America."
"They should be silenced."
"We should kill some of them."
Of course they did.
More than any other time in our history, in fact.
That was the Civil War. The only one we've had, so far, mind you.
And yet, Lincoln is the best of the best. The best we have had. Among the best God has made of us.
He was a man of his time. He made mistakes and he had some bad ideas.
But he worshipped at the altar of Truth.
And he discerned
between reasonable and unreasonable
between opinion and fact
between true and false.
Thank God we can remember him because we wrote it all down and built monuments and statues.
He's still the example we need to look to as we vote.
It's right in front of our faces.
Just Google: "best presidents in history."
